LUXEMBOURGISH PASSPORT

A Luxembourgish passport is a travel document issued by the State which enables its holders to be identified by foreign authorities.

The Luxembourgish passport is established according to the standards for security features and biometrics in the passports of EU citizens.

WHO IS CONCERNED
Every person of Luxembourg nationality can apply for a passport provided they:

• Reside in the Grand Duchy and plan to go to a foreign country, especially outside the EU, for which a passport is required;
  reside abroad and:
  do not have a passport yet; or
  their passport is about to expire.
  Children are not listed on their parents’ passports and need their own passport.

COSTS
Passports with a 5-year validity period cost EUR 50.

Passports valid for 2 years (only for children under 4 years of age) cost EUR 30.

The fast-track procedure for passport applications is subject to an additional tax.

A payment receipt must be presented at the time of submission of the application. The tax can be paid by bank transfer or cash payment to the postal account of the Passport Office (Bureau des passports): IBAN LU 46 1111 1298 0014 0000 CCPLLULL. It is also possible to pay by bank card directly at the Passport Office.
